so before a long arse blabbering... first semester is almost over... not really, but wheee... and i have a kiriban to get to, which i will once i have enough time x_x now onto the real topic!
it's that time of year again. dir en grey has released another album, and i will blab on about it... 'cause i can. and i still don't believe that i'm gonna see 'em live in about 4 days or so =X no, it hasn't hit me yet.
so anyway, new album: uroburos. apparently, the name means something along the lines of the cycle of death and rebirth. one of the statements was that this album were to reflect their old style of music and infuse it with the new. one might think that it would seem like a trainwreck at first, but i think it's been pulled off quite well. so lemme spam mah not so insightful reviews of each song. note that this rambling is based on first impressions of each song... the love of a song can only grow within more plays XP
sa bir: think of the beginning red [em] with massive macabre elements. deity-ish ftw XD good prelude nonetheless.
vinushka: one rollercoaster ride, ranging from psycho metal to... i don't have the words to describe it. but that one segment near the 6 minute mark, with... them instruments that i fail to remember XD.. flutes..?! (i aint music savvy, aightz) that one moment of utter peace and tranquility, and then ascends to storms and waves of pounding music. very similar structure to macabre, and length as well. second longest song of theirs, i think. pretty awesome.
red soil: hint of myaku mixed with their current style and kyo speaking in tongues. it never fails to impress moi. he really likes to do them low/satanic death throe screams now, doesn't he?
doukoku to sarinu: filth (kisou) elements scattered... or maybe that's just me x_x hardcore song, indeed.
toguro: favourite song of the album. music, vocals, everything. or maybe i'm a sucker for these kinds of songs; shrieking, wailing and heavy melodic music. dunno which song i can compare this to, if any... closest to the vulgar era?? dunno what he's saying at the end, but it's damn addicting. "this is the newest revolution"..?
glass skin [english]: now, i love this song. and my thoughts about the english version? it's a bit hard to catch on (more so than usual o_o). a bit of slurring, but lemme see what i can hear "i open up my wings and... something... so please don't go.... melting reason" ok, i will just have to find the true lyrics = but no, this song is awesome.
stuck man: it's funky like disabled complexes, but with some gauzzeeee! it's that old-school jrock slur-rapping meets satanic screams. gives off a sense disjointment, a tiny bit of a kisou feel for mehhzz. and i hear basssss?!
reiketsu nairaba: didn't even realize that this was another song after stuck man. fudging psychotic. then it goes into this 'break' like hydra and then RAWRGHHHHH!
ware, yami, tote...: enter ballad. reminds me of the previous 2 albums slower songs, in a sense that i won't be able to tell them apart too easily ;_; (besides length in comparison) but it's still quite lovely, especially them guitars. and kyo's voice progressing from soothing to agonized is love, too.
bugaboo: lawlzsaywut? besides the strange title, hmm... i don't know what to say XD;;... probably need to hear it a couple of more times =X
gaika...the long named one : the beginning could fool me for a game ost or something. another rockin' pyscho song, but it gets to ya, especially when it gets melodic o_o
dozing green [english]: the original, again, was quite uber. in english, again, i can't catch on too well with the lyrics, but kyo's singing still worked (didn't sound as awkward as glass skin).
inconvinient ideal: has the glass skin/conceived sorrow feel, but... this, i can't really describe. sounds magical to me, in an uber way.
yeah, there's a lot of reminiscing when hearing most of these songs, so it's proof that they haven't lost their 'old touch'. a good majority of the songs hint the macabre era, which is quite nice. overall, it is yum. =9 yes, i rate this 'yum'
and uh, that's all the rambling for now.
