this year was my very first fanexpo. and what to say about it? twas a fun and interesting experience overall, minus the horrible traffic control of people. i guess this is what happens when you bring a ton of uber celebrities? but yes, never have a felt so claustrophobic in a massive crowd of people, to the point that i got dizzy?
but enough of that. now to describe the 2/3 days i have attended! well, not described, but horrifically fangasm nonsensically? yes, nonsensical fangasming it is.
highlight #1: happened in line when i was purchasing my deluxe pass. due to my tiny wrists, the ticket seller had a difficult time putting the wristband on me. it ain't my fault xD;;
highlight #2: meeting the awesome victor lucas. randomly walked by the G4 tent with my friend and saw him. so i asked for a pic with him. i did the typical asian peace sign pose, but i accidently hit his hand while doing so. then he thought i was randomly touching/trying to hold his hand xD;; i swear i am not lying x_x but yesh, shook his hand and told him i loved reviews on the run. though electric playground is also awesome, and my mouth just did not decide to stop talking ._.
highlight #3: my friend and i taking a pic with the storm troopers. we first asked, they agreed. while we stood next to them, they told us to get on our knees. and put our hands behind our heads. and then they pointed their guns at our heads. it was epically amazing. i will frame the picture x_x
other than that, i have explored artist alley and bought some awesome prints from them awesomes peoples x3 also got camilla d'errico's 30 beautiful postcards. they shall also inspire me to draw more~ all in all, i was mainly exploring the dealers all friday. i also caught a glimpse of stan lee and heather langenkamp, which was also epic.
i was also about to get ogata megumi's autograph, but i did not know we had to buy her CD to get it signed ._. y'know, it'd be better for them to mention this beforehand instead of it being last minute.
was the biggie. so i did some commissions with more lovely artists and explored more. at timely intervals, i also chilled at tiikay's delicious table xD as it was too crowded, i did not move around much. also went to see a bit of james marsters' panel, so that was interesting~ but overall, saturday was the day 'mission amano' started x_x
so how to put a majorly long story short.. i dunno if i can, so i will rant as my brain can somewhat remember. first, sei-kun the moogle... is indeed the luckiest moogle plush in existence x_x so we wait for amano's panel about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs prior to. and then bam, panel time with an opening standing ovation x3
i really enjoyed amano's outlook on art being an internal search and organic growth; tis inspiring <3 and most of the answers he had said for the questions were also epically awesome. 'to draw' summing up his entire art career, indeed.
then it was raffle ticket time for autographs. after factoring the 5% chance of winning a ticket, we didn't. well, almost no one did as only 3 out of 50 lucky winners were drawn. this was because we didn't get 900 attendees in the panel, as most of the winning numbers were in that range ._. so i pretty much gave up.
even though i gave up, another friend didn't... and thank goodness he didn't x_x so he tried his luck and waited in line, anyway. later, somehow i was also extremely compelled and determined to give it another shot as well and joined him. long story short, most of us joined him in line, and crazily crazily CRAZILY enough... we got to meet amano and get his autograph x_____X;;
so i'm just shaking violently and fangirling like a mofo until i was next in line. he looked at my worlds of amano book, flipped the pages, and flipped back to where i wanted the autograph and then started to draw. and then i randomly put out my (stupidly, my wrong) hand and creepishly said "handshake?" aloud, so he shook my hand with an "ahh, doumo". and then i wanted to bawl. my love and appreciation for that man is insanely high now ;x; there is no other way to explain this other than... everything strangely worked out in the end. i will not stop at it, because... tis the most surreal experience. ever. ever. ever. thanks to luck, determination and group effort did this happen o_o
but yes, after all that jazz. eating time! because we haven't ate in the last 10 hrs, but that' what cons do to you. after being rejected from east side mario's for running out of food, we hopped to jack astors, and then decided casey's the best choice. eating dinner at around 11pm ain't good for the stomach xD
ok, i would ramble more, but my brain is melted and shut down, so i'm done for now xD
